The Forest Lord Cerrunos or Cernnunos spending a leisurely summer's day--napping! His real home is the otherworldly realm of Tir Nan Og. He is almost always depicted nude or partially nude--a virile, handsome man with stag antlers protruding from his forehead. It is said that wherever this woodland deity lays down to sleep or rest--grass becomes lusher and greener, flowers burst into bloom and animals gather around him. And maybe, a fairy or two--to keep watch over him and play with the animals. He is after all, the lord of the woodlands, protector of all forest creatures--wether mortal or fae, and the harbringer of the seasons. It's too bad the details are lost due to the size of the image. Done in ink, watercolor, and acrylic on a 12 X 16--140 pound acid-free watercolor paper.
