The Forest Lord Cerrunos or Cernnunos spending a leisurely summer's day--napping! His real home is the fairy realm of Tir Na Nog. He is almost always depicted nude or partially nude--a virile, handsome man with stag antlers protruding from his forehead. It is said that wherever this woodland deity lays down to sleep or rest--grass becomes lusher and greener, flowers burst into bloom and animals gather around him. And maybe, a fairy or two--to keep watch over him and play with the animals. He is after all, the lord of the woodlands, protector of all forest creatures--wether mortal or fae, and the harbringer of the seasons. It's too bad the details are lost due to the size of the image. Done in ink, watercolor, and acrylic on a 12 X 16--140 pound acid-free watercolor paper.

Hey steve, wanted to let you know that Tir Na Nog is an old Celtic name for fairyland, in case you’re really curious. It is from mythology. as for the picture, lovely. I love the soft look of the paint. The nature god seems so at peace with himself, which is how you can tell he’s a god as opposed to a human being. I love the little fairy girl dressing up the rabbit-adorable. It is exactly how I might have pictured him-with a confident sort of innocence that never fell from grace and, accordingly, doesn’t need pajamas. (wink.) Honestly, what really amazes me about this piece is that it is so full of peace and joy. How people can do that with paint is beyond me. I stand amazed.

Highly sensual and exquisite work - especially of the body hair and surroundings

You obviously spent a lot of detail on the penis..

Apparently Kimbo has never seen a man nude before, least not a real one. WTF would Cernnunos be mutilated like that? I’m sorry your perception of the male form is grossly distorted. Cut isn’t more aesthetically pleasing anyway, as most intelligent/experienced women might agree.

I agree with Anon, you’re amazing and I can’t believe this is a painting.

I find it amusing that there are girls giggling in the background, presumably giggling at the nude dude.
