SciFi and Fantasy Art CELTIC MERMAIDEN by Jade N. Bengco

I've decided to go soft for this particular piece--no bold lines--just a fine inking and watercolor washes all the way. The border is an actual Celtic pattern which I've traced over with silver metallic ink. It's a shame that the soft shimmer of the silver doesn't show up well on the pics. This painting depicts a lovely mermaiden that lives in one of the many enchanted pools found in the mysterious Emerald Isles--with gorgeous green eyes, shamrocks entwined in her fiery red hair, and a garland of fresh water seaweed, shells, pearls, coral is layered across her neck and chest. Done in ink, watercolor, ans some acrylic on watercolor paper.

I was lucky enough to win this original piece of art on ebay and it hangs in my bathroom (sorry for the location, but it looks gorgeous in there!) matted in green with a wide, whitewashed frame. The silver accents really look gorgeous. Your Celtic pieces are always my favorites. I have three of your Celts and two fantasy pieces. Thanks so much for sharing your art with us!

Definitely a teemsie tiny hint of the Fitzpatricks here, which is about the biggest compliment I could give anyone doing Celtic theme poster girls. Linework is excellent and the colours are deliciously subtle. I’d be interested to know how much time went into it. Wonderful.
