"EDGAR´S MUSE" by Jade N. Bengco

I often wondered if Edgar Allan Poe--one of my favorite authors--had a muse to inspire his writing. And--if he did--would he look like this? Well, this is just my take on what I think Edgar's Muse would look like--hope you agree! ^_^ A softly bearded hunk of an angel in full Gothic Edwardian velvet coat over a crisp ruffled shirt --complete with dark angel's wings in shades of grays. A raven is perched on the angel's hand --ready to fly into Mr. Poe's literary creations. I've opted to do this piece in dark, somber colors of grays, blacks and shades of greens and teals--to go hand-in-hand with the type of prose and poetry that were prevalent in Poe's work. This was done in mixed media--watercolor, ink, and acrylic on 140 pound acid-free watercolor paper.
