SciFi and Fantasy Art SWEET LONGING by Jade N. Bengco

They were childhood friends--both living in a secluded part of the enchanted woods. He had always teased her about her brightly colored hair, saying he can spot her a mile away. But, he always knew when to stop the teasing--especially when her large strangely violet purple eyes would start to tear up. Then, they drifted apart--he to carry on with his father's wish for him to train as a warrior; she--to prepare herself for her coming of age. Today, she decides to visit the freshwater pool where they, as children, had always met and played, and whiled the lazy days away. He was there--doing the same thing--reminiscing and wondering how she is--and, if her hair is still as it was. His twinkling blue eyes falls upon a most lovely mermaid--he knew it was her, and a sweet longing fills his soul. Her coppery gold hair--so beautiful! Did he really tease her about it? Will she recognize him--now that he has acquired the tattooed blue markings that speak of his warrior status and the curling blue horns of his tribe? A sweet whimsical scene shows a mermaid with lovely coppery gold hair streaked with pale paprika and cinnamon; a gorgeous tail and fins accented with copper and gold--under a grapevine twined over a gnarled tree branch from where suspends bunches of large plump luscious grapes. A chubby fairy looks down from her perch on the tree, while a sexy, hunky male satyr observes the mermaid from the rocky bank surrounded with all kinds of plants and lorded over by Father Oak. Done in ink, watercolor and acrylic on watercolor paper.
