Hello, everyone! I'm glad to be here on Elfwood! I started painting at a very young age probably because of inherited genes and my parents' influence while I was growing up---they were both well known artists and were also art professors at a university. Having an associate degree in Interior Design, I dabbled in that for some years, but realized that my first love would always be painting--or simply creating works of art. I slowly developed my own style, but am still greatly influenced and inspired by works of Art Nouveau artists such as Klimt, Beardsley, Mucha, Sulamith Wulfing and Kay Nielsen among others. My favorite artists of today are Vallejo, Frazetta, Sorayama, Olivia, DeLamare, Royo, and my Dad--just to name a few. But, I must say that the biggest influence I've had was from my Dad who patiently taught and guided me through the use of color, anatomy, perspective, and composition--which to this day is still a continuous learning process for me. I derive a lot of inspiration from fantasy and romance novels--wherein certain vividly described passages in the story compels me to put it down on paper. Since I enjoy reading so much--particularly about the different myths and legends of various cultures--I get a lot of inspiration and ideas from that quarter also. As to materials--I use primarily 140 pound acid-free watercolor paper for smaller projects, initially inking my final sketch, then layering in the watercolors, and finally accenting the painting with acrylics--all this being executed to the tunes of my favorite bands--Blackmore's Night, Nickelback, Kamelot, Sonata Arctica and El Divo (when I want something cool and mellow). There is nothing that feels better than finishing a painting, showing it, and have it bring smiles to peoples' faces--this makes all the hours spent laboring over my work table--totally worth it! I dream about creating the ultimate painting one day--hopefully soon! Overall, I think I've got something that I feel is good enough to share with the world--as far as my art is concerned, that is. I hope you'll enjoy what I have to offer, as much as I enjoyed creating them!
A NOTE OF WARNING: There are some pieces in my gallery that show nudity--male and female. So, for those of you who have sensitive eyes, equate any kind of nudity as porn, feel that seeing nudity can damage the brain, believe that appreciating nudity lessens your chances of going to heaven, or render you unfit to live among humankind, etc.--pls. refrain from clicking on the thumbnails that clearly show the image depicting some form of nudity. Many thanks!
